The alternative in the north. Our roommates appreciate the rural tranquility and the cooler climate here. Nevertheless, you are quickly in the big city Chaing Mai or by the sea.

swiss valley has a large garden with an area of 20'000m2. We have traditional villas in solid brick Lanna style. In the swiss valley there is plenty of space to be active. Living with us feels like on vacation.

New we have a fish pond and the swiss valley garden. If you want, you can 'garden with us' here. We have mosquitoes only in the twilight at 18:00. Day and night it has none.

We are in Mae On, a district of Chiang Mai. The swiss valley cultivates a cozy country lifestyle,-`slow life`. Mae On has a good road connection to Chiang Mai or overland to Chiang Rai, Lampang and Mae Hong Son. Chiang Mai can be reached in 25 minutes (to the outer ring road 121).

We have two motobikes here for rent in the swiss valley (160 THB per day). We recommend your own motorcycle or better a car.

In Chiang Mai it has two large international hospitals. Bangkok Hospital and Chiang Mai Ram. German is also spoken in the hospital.

The central location in northern Thailand and Asia is ideal for traveling. The swiss valley,- „my homebase for asia“.

Where is the swiss valley? Where's Mae On?

This viewpoint is only 2km east of the swiss valley, at 850 m above sealevel with a view of Mae On.

The central location of Mae On is ideal for Thailand trips. The center (Old Town) of Chiang Mai City and the International Airport are only a forty-minute drive from Mae On. The city of San Kamphaeng can be reached in twenty minutes from Mae On. The road is well developed. From the airport, everything is straight ahead, without turning off, all the way to Mae On.

From Mae On there is a direct connection to Chiang Rai, Lampang or Samoeng-Pai. You don't have to drive through Chiang Mai city. This saves time and has a beautiful landscape on the way.

Mae On District is 442 km2 and has only 49 people per km2. We are surrounded by beautiful nature. Over 50% of the area of Mae On is dense rainforest (national park). Close to the swiss valley is the famous Chiang Mai Highlands Golf Course (3.5km) and the San Kamphaeng Hotsprings (5km). The village of Mae Kamphong in the rainforest of the district Mae On is the top five tourist attraction in Chiang Mai. In the mountain village of Mae Kamphong, in the rainforest of the district of Mae On, one is from the swiss valley in twenty minutes. We live with roommates who like to live in nature and enjoy the peace and quiet in the countryside.

The location of the swiss valley

Our swiss valley comprises a 20'000m² plot in the district of Mae On. A very nice, private valley with plenty of space. The residential complex is located directly between the forest zone and the rice fields. It is quiet and original here, the origin of Thailand.

Mae On is 100m higher than Chiang Mai at an altitude of 420m.o.M. On a mountain slope of Chae Son National Park. It's pleasantly chilly here at night. The mountains around the swiss valley are up to 1`700 m.o.M. Up.

The daily market in Mae On is 3km from the swiss valley. There is also a 7-eleven, a butcher shop, a pharmacy and several restaurants and cafes.

Mae On market from 17:00.

The famous Mae On Hot Spring is only 5km from the swiss valley. The mountains in Chiang Mai are foothills of the Himalayas. Southern Tibet is only 1'000km north.

Existing infrastructure

The existing infrastructure includes the bistro as a meeting point, the yoga/fitness house and the large swimming pool 13m x 5m with panoramic infinity overflow.

Walkingtracks 500m with three bridges over our brook and a boccia course. We have a big pond with fish. The various fruits of the own fruit trees are ripe to eat especially in May. In our garden can be planted as needed.

For artists we have suitable villas with space to work. It has a covered seat for painting and sculpting.

We have a gardener and an external employee for repairs in swiss valley. Gardening is optional with rental residents.

Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is Thailand's second largest city with a population of one million. After Lonely Planet 2014, Chiang Mai is in "25 Best Destinations in the World". The climate in northern Thailand is not as warm as in southern Thailand. In the evening and at night the temperatures go down pleasantly.

Activities in the swiss valley

In order to live a balanced day structure in Thailand, you have to do something for yourself. We hope for active roommates and also have the infrastructure to do so in the swiss valley. The infrastructure can be used free of charge.

We recommend four activities: sports, a hobby, positive consumption and travel.

Sports: Cycling right in front of the swiss valley, running, fitness and yoga, swimming and bowling.

Hobbies: Gardening in our own garden or your home garden, cooking, painting, photography, pottery/sculpture and learning Thai. We have a large garden in the lower part of the swiss valley. There you can rent a garden from us. The garden water is from our nearby pond.

Positive Consumption: Visit cafe shop in Mae On, beer and wine, visit night and day markets, Chiang Mai City Old Town and the shopping center in Chiang Mai. Billiards in Mae On. Living the `slow life`.

Travel: Travel in Chiang Mai surroundings, northern Thailand, by plane to the sea or in places of Asia. Traveling is good for getting to know new ideas/inspirations and other cultures/lifestyles.

Mae On is well suited for an active and healthy lifestyle. Nature is right on your doorstep. Chiang Mai is in the center of Asia for travelling. All service needed is in the town of Chiang Mai.

Chiang Mai Highlands Golf (www.chiangmaihighlands.com) is located one kilometer north of the swiss valley. Chiang Mai Highlands is the most beautiful golf course in Chiang Mai, top 10 in Asia.

Other beautiful golf courses nearby are the Alpine Golf (www.alpinegolfresort.com) or the Gassan Khuntan Golf (www.gassangolf.com -Khuntan). There are also nine other 18-hole golf courses in Chiang Mai, as well as five 9-hole courses.

We have a very nice view of the rice fields of Mae On.

Best time in swiss valley

The focus of 'swiss valley' is on nature and tranquillity. If you are looking for a 'relaxing break' to slow down in northern Thailand or are planning an escape from the cold, then you are in the right place in swiss valley. We have spacious spaces with lots of sun.

The climate in Mae On is best between late May and February. March to mid-April is hot and dry. Last year, however, it already started to rain on 7 April and it was not so hot since then.
